Owen Scales (he/him) is an Austin, Texas native raised by two parents working in law enforcement and a brilliant Nana who had an affinity for classic Hollywood and old MGM movie musicals! Because of this trio, Owen was quickly introduced to Judy Garland and fell in love with the joy of her singing and the splendor of the Golden Age of movie musicals. Through his love of Judy Garland, Owen fell in love with singing and learned that his stutter, a life-long challenge for him, disappeared whenever he sang, allowing him to find comfort in his own musicality!
Owen was involved in various training programs throughout his high school years, including the Pre-Professional Company at ZACH Theatre, KidsActing, and the Performing Arts Project on the Wake Forest University campus under faculty artists such as Gavin Creel, Krysta Rodriguez, and Nick Blaemire.
After graduating from the McCallum Fine Arts Academy as an Acting Major, Owen Scales will be receiving his BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan in May 2024! Owen has been extremely fortunate to have trained under the most prestigious faculty and made the most wonderful friends at the University of Michigan that inspire him daily. He is forever grateful for his education that taught him the history of the art-form and industry that he is so eager to contribute to and join!
